Water Mitigation Success: Restoring a Branson Home After an AC Unit Leak

At ABC Environmental Contracting Services in Springfield, we recently completed a water mitigation project in Branson, MO. A homeowner contacted us after noticing damp areas in their bedroom and signs of moisture damage in their garage ceiling. The source of the water issue turned out to be an AC unit leak, which had already been shut off and serviced by an HVAC technician before we arrived.

Affected Areas and Materials

When we arrived at the Branson home, we found that the water damage had affected two main areas: the bedroom and the garage ceiling below it. The homeowner had noticed moisture in these areas and contacted us immediately to prevent further damage. Here’s a breakdown of the impacted areas:

Bedroom

The bedroom carpet was the most affected. While there was no standing water, the carpet had absorbed a significant amount of moisture. This made the room uncomfortable and raised concerns about potential mold growth. We took immediate action to begin the drying process and restore the area.

Garage Ceiling

In addition to the bedroom, moisture had spread to the ceiling of the garage located directly beneath it. The garage ceiling showed signs of dampness but was not as severely affected as the carpet in the bedroom. However, it still required attention to prevent any further moisture-related damage or issues like mold. We included this area in our drying efforts to ensure the entire space was fully restored.

Steps Taken for Water Mitigation

Once we assessed the damage, we quickly got to work using a proven, systematic approach to mitigate the water damage. Here's how we handled the water mitigation process:

  1. Assessment and Moisture Detection: Our team began with a thorough assessment of the affected areas. Using a moisture meter, we checked the bedroom carpet, flooring, and the garage ceiling to identify areas with elevated moisture levels. This assessment helped us determine the drying equipment and the best approach to handle the moisture.
  2. Setup of Drying Equipment: Based on our findings, we set up high-efficiency drying equipment in both the bedroom and garage. We used air movers to circulate air and accelerate drying, ensuring any trapped moisture would evaporate efficiently. Additionally, we used dehumidifiers in both areas to pull moisture out of the air and speed up the drying process.
  3. Monitoring the Drying Process: Throughout the project, we carefully monitored moisture levels in the affected areas to ensure progress. Our team used the moisture meter at regular intervals to track changes and make adjustments to the equipment if needed.
  4. Completion and Final Inspection: Once the moisture levels in the carpet, flooring, and garage ceiling were within safe, dry ranges, we removed the equipment and did a final inspection. Everything was dry, and no further issues were detected. Our client was pleased with the results, knowing that their home was dry and safe from future moisture-related problems.

Another Successful Project

This project showcases our commitment to thorough, efficient water mitigation. By acting quickly and using the right tools, we were able to restore the affected areas in the Branson home and prevent future damage. We’re glad we could provide peace of mind for the homeowner, and we’re always ready to help our community handle water mitigation needs.
