Learn More About Discovery Center Of Springfield

The Discovery Center of Springfield is an interactive, hands-on science museum for adults and children alike in Springfield, MO. The local, nonprofit science center aims to inspire people of all ages to continue learning while having fun. The educational center features many memorable and engaging hands-on experiences in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

The exhibits split across three floors. On the first floor, you’ll find Wonderland, specifically for young visitors under five. It features many fun activities for the little ones, such as witnessing the power of the air, investigating small objects with a magnifier, and watching a puppet show. The first floor also houses the Explore! Area. Here you can dig for dinosaur bones, fly a plane, and even lay on a bed of nails if you dare!

On the second floor is the Phenomena Gallery, featuring a Van de Graff Generator that will make your hair stand up. There’s also the Exploratory Lab suitable for all ages. The lab refreshes its superb range of hands-on activities every month.

Finally, on the third floor, you can visit Discovery Town, a fully interactive city street, including a grocery store, theatre, and mini TV studio complete with cameras and a newsroom. There is also BodyWorks and the ChromoZone Lab, two health-related extravaganzas exploring the human body. Additionally, on the third floor, you can ride the much-loved HighWire bicycle.

The Discovery Center of Springfield holds regular seasonal events and an annual adults-only night at the museum. Furthermore, there are many educational enrichment opportunities for children and adults, including robot and dissection workshops and science sprout days.

The discovery center is currently open Friday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. Adult admission is $12, over 60’s is $10, and Children (age 3-15) is $8.
