Learn More About Springfield Conservation Nature Center

Springfield Conservation Nature Center is an 80-acre nature park in southwest Springfield, Missouri. The nature center features a three-mile beautiful nature trail loop with an abundance of trees, wildflowers, springs, and creeks. The easy trail is well-marked, and there are some gorgeous bridges to take you across the James River and various other creeks and streams.

Springfield Conservation Nature Center is a heavenly slice of the Ozarks outdoors, making it ideal for nature and wildlife lovers alike. It’s also a great place to take the kids when you want to give them (and yourself) a break from screens and technology.

The park conserves many species of wildlife, from birds to deer, to squirrels. There are many fantastic bird-watching opportunities, too, including the bird hides overlooking the lush lake. Furthermore, there is a pleasant, shady picnic area to relax, refuel, and breathe in the fresh air.

You can stroll around the park on your own, or you can join a guided tour. The center also offers many opportunities to learn about the plants and animals residing there. You can sign up for an educational program or attend a nature and conservation exhibit in the 150-seat auditorium. You’ll find the latest event schedule at the information desk within the grounds. There are also restrooms and a gift shop on site.

Camping, along with general hunting and fishing, is not allowed on the grounds. However, you can buy hunting and fishing permits at the center. The nature center is open daily from 8 am to 8 pm. The information desk, gift shop, and educational facility are closed Sundays and Mondays, though. The center is situated just west of Highway 65 off the James River Freeway (Highway 60). Follow the brown road signs along the way to reach the conservation center.
